The DEPICT study

DEPICT (Differences in access to Emergency Paediatric Intensive Care and care during Transport) is a research study funded by the National Institute for Health Research (Health Services and Delivery Research Programme, ref: 15/136/45). The Chief Investigator for the study is Dr Padmanabhan Ramnarayan and the Study Sponsor is Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

DEPICT adddresses a key research question in the field of emergency intensive care for children: do national variations in the timeliness of access to emergency intensive care (arrival of a specialist intensive care retrieval team and admission to the paediatric intensive care unit) and care provided during specialist retrieval to intensive care (seniority of team leader, interventions performed and occurrence of adverse events) affect clinical outcomes (mainly 30-day mortality) and patient (and family) experience?
