CATS Courses and Study Days

CATS organise several Regional Study Days and Courses throughout the year. Anyone involved in the management of sick children, including nursing staff, paediatricians, ODPs, emergency physicians and anaesthetists are welcome. We are keen for the most junior through to the most senior staff to attend.

 

Situation Critical study day
Aims: The aim of this one-day study day is to cover all aspects of early recognition, acute management and stabilisation of the critically ill or injured child using a mix of lectures, interactive case discussions, hands-on workshops and high fidelity simulation exercises.[break]Content: Learn about the management of respiratory failure, sepsis, head injury and trauma, and airway emergencies from senior CATS team members.[break]Next Date: TBC 2016 Fee: £50[break]Location: Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, Holborn, London.
Aeromedical Retrieval study day
Aims: The aim of this one-day study day is to learn about the safe transfer of critically ill children by air. We have a variety of guest speakers ranging from CATS staff through to air ambulance pilots, and the practical sessions, case discussions and simulation scenarios are guaranteed to provide you the confidence you need to perform a safe aeromedical retrieval.[break]Content: Learn about rotary wing and fixed-wing retrievals, indications to undertake an aeromedical transfer, and the clinical aspects of managing a critically ill child in the air.[break]Next Date: awaited
CATS Stabilisation and Transport (CAST) Simulation Course
Aims: This new CATS simulation course will focus on the core clinical and team working skills required for the stabilization and transport of critically ill children.[break]Content: Technology enhanced learning using high fidelity simulation to gain experience in the management of common paediatric emergencies. A practical hands-on course for all members of the multidisciplinary team, run by senior CATS team faculty..[break]Next Date: 29th March 2017
