Stabilisation and transport of the critically ill child – Imperial College

This course aims to equip healthcare providers with the knowledge and skills to assess, resuscitate and stabilise the critically ill child. The course will cover common paediatric emergencies and provide management strategies for the initial stabilisation of the patient. The course is designed to work on optimising multi-disciplinary team functionality in adverse situations.  The course will provide the opportunity to practice the skills taught in a variety of workshops and simulated learning events.

This course is open to doctors, nurses and allied health professionals encountering the critically ill child.

This course consists of lectures, interactive sessions and simulated learning to enable students to stabilise and manage critically ill children who may require transport to Paediatric Intensive Care.

Day 1:  will be lecture and seminar based at Imperial College.

Day 2: will be based at the CATS (Children’s Acute Transport Service) office with practical exposure to the equipment used by the CATS team using workshops and simulated learning.
